Set up Your Campaign
Once you have received your User name and password, go to the Campaign Set up page and fill in all of the details. If you watch the block on the right, as you tab down to each field you will see the help text change to give you some guidance on what to enter in the form.
-
Campaign Name – Duplicate names are not allowed and will be rejected. Try and make sure that your name choice is not likely to be there already. You can check first from the “View Campaigns”. It is quite a good idea to prefix your name with something like the abbreviated club name e.g. M-S-W Napoleonic Wars.
-
Basic Rule Set - Enter the rules under which the games will be played.
-
Campaign Description – Outline the basis for the campaign. Note the time period, the makeup of the armies to be used, perhaps a bit of narrative background to bring it all to life.
Also Include the scale to be used e.g. 15mm or 6mm etc. It is planned to have a separate field for this in a future update, but for now make it clear here.
-
Special Game Rules - If there are any special rules that apply detail them here. For example you might not allow casualties from previous games to be used, or only a percentage of them. One side might have to play defensive etc.
-
Scoring Rules - This will determine how the league points are arrived at. Perhaps a simple three points for a win? Many rules systems have their own scoring system and it is often best to use this.
-
Max No Players - Once this number of players have joined the campaign, no more enteries will be accepted.
-
Max No Games – This refers to the number of times that any two players may play against each other. This facility can be useful if you have only a small number of players (even two!) who want to record results over a series of games.
The system checks to see that this is not exceeded and will not allow additional results to be entered.
-
Join Date – No new players will be able to join the campaign after this date. It is quite possible to set this to the day before the finish date. It simply depends on whether or not you want late starters. You also need to allow time for players to complete all of their games before the finnish date.
-
Campaign Password - This will be needed by any player wishing to join the campaign. It will be included in the invite email that is sent out, but you must let anyone else who you wish to join the campaign know this password.
-
Once all of the details have been completed submit the form. You will be advised of any problems such as incomplete fields and when everything is ok you will go to the Invite page.
-
Invite Page - This page allows you to enter the email addresses (up to 10) of those you wish to invite to join the campaign. You may include more people than the campaign is set up for, and first come first serve will apply. Once the stated numbers of players have joined, no more will be able to signup. Others not emailed can also join, provided that you tell them the password!
When this page is submitted, an invitation will be emailed to these addresses. The Invite will contain all of the detail that you have entered on the previous form, including the campaign password.
-
Now just wait for people to join and get started!

Convention says that the victory writes the history, so that is the usual choice. But if you get in first, then your version of events will be those on record!
